Little update on my journey!

2023 ran smoothly and very quickly indeed. I was still stocking various shops and posting out online orders whilst figuring out many ‘behind the scenes’ stuff with regard to selling plants.
Moving forward to 2024, I felt for some reason this year was my year. My children were growing up and I had more time to put into the business. I was accepted to attend the Lincolnshire show and couldn’t wait. Whilst preparing for the show I happened to come across a space which was inside Grimsby Freeman Street market. It was the ideal spot for me to open a teeny tiny plant shop. I studied my figures etc and took the plunge! I opened my doors on 1st June and took this opportunity see if I was ready to work face to face again with the public whilst committing to a number of days working again away from home. I still stocked a variety of other shops but was desperate to display my stock how I wanted it. I loved it!!
With this being a positive move I then had the opportunity to move to a slightly bigger and more accessible space which I took. I received the keys and opened this space Nov 1st 2024. This new space allowed me to merchandise my plants and other stock in a way which suited the public better when shopping/browsing. Definitely made the right choice and was settled but soon outgrew the space and wanted to stock so much that I simply couldn’t fit in my shop.
Fast forwards to Feb 2025 and I happen to see a local shop in my local town of Louth come up for rent. It’s seemed perfect so I booked a viewing without really weighing too much up as I couldn’t really make a decision without seeing it. I just knew in my heart that I would love more space and would love to be nearer to my home and safe on the drive to Grimsby. The viewing went well but I had to make a very quick decision as someone else had shown some serious interest and the landlord wanted the property occupied. I said yes!!!
March 1st I received the keys. I had given notice to Grimsby and got myself ready for moving again which I was a sad but happy time for me. I had throughly enjoyed my time at Grimsby and would miss the friends I had made but knew this was my dream. I wanted to open a shop in Louth and had to at least try, this shop couldn’t slip through my fingers. Grimsby had shown me that I was ready!
After 4 solid long days of decorating with the full support and assistance of my husband we were ready to open on March 5th. The public were so very supportive of me and my new space and the excitement amongst the locals was great.
Two months in and I’m loving having control of my own space and merchandising my own products. I still sell well online for both collection and postage and this new space allows me to wrap all the parcels throughout my working day. All my work is carried out at work and not at home. If I’m honest my home was becoming overrun with stock and I had craved for my home back after 5years of sharing it with large amounts of stock. I can now enjoy my home again with my family.
I have a few things in the pipeline for the rest of 2025 which I will share when I can but want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support online (honestly every order means so so much to me, no order is to small) and to those who shop with me and come and chat ‘plants’ to me.
I appreciate you all!
